Neil Young - A Letter Home

Neil Young - A Letter Home

I've followed the principal in this blog of "If you have nothing good to say, don't say it all". I'm making an exception because this one is scary. I am a fan, as are all my friends. But a fan should not shell out money for absolute crud. Think of all the tirades Neil Young has had about the poor sound quality of music products!

I suggest you try to find an on-line stream of this before shelling out any cash.

A video is available of one cut:

And here's a guy with an alternative view of this CD. At least he's honest when he says "it sounds like an old 78 - it's scratchy." Where his ears differ from mine is he says "it works - it really works":

A live audience video has much better sound:

And finally, a 2014 solo concert in Winnepeg - enjoy!

The April Maze - Oh Yesterday & Other Hits

Finding a greatest hits cd in your mailbox from a group you never heard of is often a joke. This one was different, because they probably were hits and I missed them; or else they weren't hits and we all missed some great fun the past few years. Whatever the case, this is a fun duo, and deserve many many ears tasting their goodness. The various videos show off their versatility and showmanship. Good bread pudding! The sheet that comes with claims this CD will only be available at their concerts. Shame, really; but that's a good excuse for you to find out when they're playing in a town near year. The individual singles are, of course, available everywhere.

Looking into You: A Tribute to Jackson Browne

Three of the cuts on this collection stand out because the artists internalize Browne's vision and create a personal flavor worthy of visiting. Only Bonnie has prepared a video in time for CD release. The other videos are good appetizers for what flavors to expect will be spicing up Jackson Browne's sunshine.

Bonnie Raitt and David Lindley - Everywhere I Go

Bruce Springsteen and Patti Scialfa - Linda Paloma

Bruce Hornsby - I'm Alive

The Pizza Underground

It was really really hard sitting on these treasures knowing others were sharing it and knowing anyone who reads my page deserves a good laugh any time of year. Yet I waited because this truly is a perfect April Fool's musical experience. Enjoy!
