Back story. This instrumental is in honor of Walter's dad. Once in a restaurant he dad let loose with a loud fart. When everyone looked at him in amazement, he simply said loudly, "Tight shoes". Made an impression on young Walter, and we are glad because this guitar is worth every meal on the menu!

This cut is from his first album, the one that pulled me out of music-writing retirement when I wrote this. It's re-released in 2014 because it's an integral part of the soundtrack for A Fault In Our Stars. The rest of the soundtrack is typical pop fluff, and will delight the youngsters. I will say the soundtrack doesn't hold up against the power of the book, which everyone should read. Jake's cut gives me solace that perhaps the movie will invite more people to the book.

But it left me looking to get higher still"

Humboldt Windchimes
An old video while waiting for Humboldt Windchimes on Youtube:
You usually come here to find the best eartasting singles of the day. Once in awhile something special happens. You know these guys, and this CD has both fantastic sound and great performances. Hearing these acoustic executions of the hits, one can only wonder what was going on that they weren't officially released back in the day.
Get the CD while it's on sale. The mp3 version is inexplicably selling for twice the cost of the cd on Amazon today. Excellent value for powerful taste of musical history.
R.E.M. - MTV Unplugged 1991 & 2001
Carlos gave us a masterpiece with Shape Shifter (2012). Shape Shifter belongs in every home music library. The problem with masterpieces is they do not make money for the artists during their lifetime. So, we need the occasional foray into great journeyman level work by a master in the area of pop music.
The entire CD of Corazón (2014) is a fun way to spend an hour hearing a master field his way through every style of pop music thrown his way. There's no doubting his commitment to making everyone sound their absolute best.
Personally, I hope he makes enough cash from this sweet dessert to reward us with another full dinner masterpiece like Shape Shifter next time around. The eartaste pleasures from this CD:
Feel It Coming Back w/Diego Torres
Besos de Lejos w/Gloria Estefan
"We celebrate! One voice, one heart, one soul! Here we go - that's all we we know!"

This year slid by quick, and obviously we are on the cusp of summer because Neon Trees are using these tunes to announce loudly and proudly that the time is right for dancing in the street! Easy to join this eartaste party! Yep, this excitement needs those exclamation points! Silly lyrics ("I'm in the 21st century"), bouncing bass, yummy drums & flying rhythm guitars make for a bundle of snapping sunshine smiling on the sidewalks of our souls!

Black Prairie - The 84
I've followed the principal in this blog of "If you have nothing good to say, don't say it all". I'm making an exception because this one is scary. I am a fan, as are all my friends. But a fan should not shell out money for absolute crud. Think of all the tirades Neil Young has had about the poor sound quality of music products!
I suggest you try to find an on-line stream of this before shelling out any cash.
A video is available of one cut:
And here's a guy with an alternative view of this CD. At least he's honest when he says "it sounds like an old 78 - it's scratchy." Where his ears differ from mine is he says "it works - it really works":
A live audience video has much better sound:
And finally, a 2014 solo concert in Winnepeg - enjoy!
