We get out of Mike’s car and jump on over to Joan’s car and “turn the radio on.” A romance that lasted a few Christmas seasons, now it’s time to face the reality of life while lacing an eartaste hangover with some good strong coffee and wondering who it is that “divided up the days into hours/the hours into minutes?” Joan figures anyone with this kinda time on their hands “musta had a broken heart”, and identifies deeply; “When love is over/you’re gonna learn about time.” The emotions don’t pick up too much, but the music is hopeful with “Dead Roses (Are Still Beautiful To Me).”
