The chorus wakes me up and gets my ears buzzing with a fuzz bass and fun drummer. The guitar is simple and effective. “You were raised in a graveyard, a place you can’t escape. It’s a way to remember every feeling you’ve erased.” I really love it later when the narrator changes the word graveyard to schoolyard. “You were raised in a schoolyard, a place you can’t escape. It’s a way to remember every feeling you’ve erased.” There’s many truths wrapped up in there – young Americans are not allowed to escape the schoolyard, and many aspects of our educational system are not much different than a prison or graveyard. And how many of our feelings are squashed and killed on the schoolyard by “teachers”. Scary truths.
