“Your words, they don’t call, they imply.” This pleasant album with the acoustic background and tender vocalist does not go out of its way to explain what the narrator wants us to come away thinking. The tone is introspective, and since there are no stories this allows the listener to drift away into their own stories. I won’t tell you mine, I know you’ll have plenty of your own. As the song says, there’s things implied here, but the implications will be different for each listener. Not easy to pull off, but Mark has done a good job. “I’m sure there’s a lot you don’t show.” So true. Shoutouts for Atrophy (“I’m here inside, I’m wrapped too tight”) & Cold Little Fire (“All I desired was your embrace”).
