“Hold my hand while you cut me down. It had only just begun, but it’s over now.” The love story is fun, and I love the way the melody is exciting despite the title and the obvious blues of the lyrics. Sounds like the narrator is feeling complete freedom in her life by exorcising the demons that were dragging her down. The vocalist has a raspy sound that could be taken as a blue thought, but the bass player and synthesizer player won’t let her get away with it, and the drummer doesn’t help with the playful diddles. “Never mind, said your open arms.” Shoutouts for Cold Shoulder and Chasing Pavements.
